10:57 a.m. - Joyce returned to room. Ali, surgical nurse, updated Jackie. New IV was started for Joyce as other was not useful. Confirmed that Joyce will need a follow up appointment scheduled for stint removal. Joyce indicated no pain. Blood sugar levels at 210. Anti-nausea medication was given to Joyce as she indicated that she was feeling nauseated in post-op. Joyce currently on 3 litres flow of oxygen, Ali informed Jackie it could be lowered back down to 2 litres later on. IPC Device setup and in use on her legs. 11 a.m. - Joyce indicated she "felt yucky" when Jackie asked how she was feeling. Jackie told Joyce that she is most likely feeling that way from the anesthesia. Joyce stated she was cold and Jackie said she would get more blankets brought in. Joyce asked what they did to her and Jackie recounted to Joyce that she had a kidney stone removed, explaining the procedure and that the stint was still in her and would be removed a week later by Dr. Keizur but it would n...

10:12 a.m. - Dr. Keizur arrived to report on Joyce. She did great during procedure, the local anesthetic used on her spine having worked fine and she is breathing normally. The stone was removed and Joyce may notice some "sand particles" in the coming days as the remainder of the kidney stone passes. A stint has been left in place and will need to be removed in 7 to 10 days. Dr. Keizur will handle the removal in his office during a follow up appointment. Normally there is a string attached to it but he did not want to use that for Joyce as he was concerned she might be confused or have a non-lucid moment and remove it on her own. The follow up appointment should be scheduled by the Gritman staff before Joyce's transfer to Good Samaritan tomorrow but if the family doesn't get that confirmed on Joyce's plan of care or if the family has any questions they can call Dr. Keizur's office for assistance. 1:05 p.m. - Dusty was attempting to depart room to visit hospital commissary for lunch when Dr. Brown arrived with report from radiologists. There appear to be no blockages and no internal damage seen, Joyce just has a lot of backed up poop. It appears that Joyce also has a kidney stone (and has "had it for some time"). Dr. Brown suggested that the kidney stone might have been (and currently could be) be causing Joyce some pain, especially in her back area, and requested permission to contact the Gritman urology department to see if they could break it up as a step toward additional pain relief for Joyce. Dusty assented to urology team being contacted. Dr. Brown departed to contact urology.  2:02 p.m. - Nurse's aides checked on Joyce to see if she needed to use bathroom and Joyce confirmed "probably."
