General Update #35

10:12 a.m. - Dr. Keizur arrived to report on Joyce. She did great during procedure, the local anesthetic used on her spine having worked fine and she is breathing normally. The stone was removed and Joyce may notice some "sand particles" in the coming days as the remainder of the kidney stone passes. A stint has been left in place and will need to be removed in 7 to 10 days. Dr. Keizur will handle the removal in his office during a follow up appointment. Normally there is a string attached to it but he did not want to use that for Joyce as he was concerned she might be confused or have a non-lucid moment and remove it on her own. The follow up appointment should be scheduled by the Gritman staff before Joyce's transfer to Good Samaritan tomorrow but if the family doesn't get that confirmed on Joyce's plan of care or if the family has any questions they can call Dr. Keizur's office for assistance. The stint will be quick to remove and he will inspect things using a special microscope at the time Joyce is brought into him.

Confirmed with nurse's station shift leader at 11:05 a.m. (on 6/6/2020) - currently only 1 visitor per day for Joyce, no exceptions. Once current visitor departs Joyce's room, no further visits for the rest of the day. No swapping out visitors (example, Dusty cannot remain on hospital grounds while Craig goes to sit with Joyce for an hour and then Dusty returns to room).
