General Update #78

Dusty called Aspen Park to obtain report on Joyce's appointment with Dr. Keizur earlier in the day.
Sue, head of nursing care team, stated that Dr. Keizur reported that the stint was removed successfully and he has listed "encouraged fluid intake increase" on the care notes for Joyce. No additional antibiotics were deemed needed as the previously diagnosed UTI appears to have cleared up. Dr. Keizur provided Joyce with some informational paperwork detailing how to avoid kidney stone development.

Sue noted that if Joyce reports hallucinations in the future to the family then they should have her tested for a UTI as it is most likely the cause.

Dusty inquired about the follow up with the cancer center and if a review of Joyce's spinal imaging had been scheduled. Sue stated that she had not knowledge related to that at this time. Sue suggested that the upcoming appointment with Joyce's primary care provider, Dr. Collins, might be where that information is reviewed/discussed. Dusty attempted to contact Dr. Collins at Moscow Medical but just missed her. She will return tomorrow and Dusty will attempt to make contact with her then for follow up about the potential spinal cancer.

Dusty attempted to get in touch with Jennifer Trout (admissions/admin) to see if she knew what had been arranged (re: having cancer center review Joyce's potential spinal cancer or if an appointment had been scheduled) but it appears she may have departed for the day. Dusty left a machine and will attempt to follow up with her tomorrow morning prior to contacting Dr. Collins.

Dusty called Joyce to check in with her ~4:50 p.m.
Joyce reported that the stint removal went well over in Pullman at Dr. Keizur's office (occurring early afternoon around 1 p.m.). Joyce says that there was some residual soreness but she is feeling better now after some rest.

Physical therapy today involved a new person who took Joyce all around the facility, walking down several hallways and back. She was very friendly and will return tomorrow. The plan is to do two long walks for tomorrow.

Breakfast was scrambled eggs and sausage with hash browns. Joyce remembered to request apple juice for breakfast and lunch as well. Lunch was hurried, owing to needing to depart for her appointment with Dr. Keizur. She had ham and scalloped potatoes with peas.

The blinds have been left down to keep Joyce's room cool today and Joyce reports that seemed to help keep the room cooler compared to yesterday with half the blinds raised. Joyce lamented that a fan was not permissible to have in her room but is making due using a newspaper to fan herself when she gets too warm. Dusty reminded Joyce that she can request a wet washcloth to help cool down and she confirmed that she remembered she could do that.

Joyce stated that she wanted to go home and Dusty confirmed he understood. She was worried about the farmhouse. Dusty assured her that Craig, Carol, Connie, Dusty, and Jess have been going out to work there nearly each day and Dusty confirmed he has been keeping up on cleaning the dishes and has been working on doing house chores.

Joyce reported that her pain levels were very low today, around a 2-3. She takes that to be a good sign and hopefully progress that she will be making toward going home.

Joyce misremembered elements of her knee replacement.

Joyce reported she has a bruise from her knee to her ankle on her left leg. She suspects that it is from her fall down the stairs. It has darkened up since her arrival to Aspen Park and so it is most likely to start going away now. Joyce stated in a joking manner that she hurts herself she does a pretty good job of it.

Joyce ended the call citing nature's call.
