General Update #23
3:47 p.m. - Nurse's aide arrived with Mark from the physical therapy team. Informed Joyce that they would like to try getting her onto the commode for an attempt at a bowel movement before she lays down into the bed. Asked Joyce about her nausea, Joyce indicated that it had started to subside. Nurse's aide asked if Joyce would like to take a shower before bed. Joyce said no. Nurse's aide said that maybe they could try a little later on. While Joyce was in bathroom, Nurse's aide told Mark that Joyce has been doing well today. Updated Mark on laxatives and suppositories administered to Joyce, so he is aware that they are expecting a bowel movement to happen sooner or later. Mark inquired if Joyce was leaving for home tomorrow. Nurse's aide informed Mark that Joyce will be going to Good Samaritan for skilled nursing care for at least a few weeks. Mark expressed that he did not know Saturday admissions at Good Samaritan. Nurse's aide responded that if they don't then Joyce would most likely then remain at Gritman until Monday.
3:55 p.m. - Nurse's aide checked back in on Joyce and asked if she thought a bowel movement was pending. Joyce said no, but that urination most likely would happen. Nurse's aide and mark departed room at 3:59 p.m. to "give Joyce some time" as nurse's aide doesn't want Joyce to feel pressured. Announced she will return shortly to ensure Joyce hasn't fallen asleep on the toilet again.
4:02 p.m. - Nurse's aide returned to check on Joyce. Joyce had indeed fallen asleep on the toilet. Joyce declared she was done with attempting to use the bathroom. Only passed a small amount of urine.
4:06 p.m. - Joyce vomited shortly after being seated upon her bed. Nurse's aide deployed vomit bag. Nurse's aide asked if Joyce was feeling dizzy when nausea occurs, or if it was just nausea. Joyce said just the nausea, then vomited again.
4:15 p.m. - Joyce was eased back into bed and made comfortable as nausea subsided. Vomit bag kept handy. Pain level for Joyce reported to nurse's aide to be currently at 5 out of 10. Joyce confirmed to be currently at 2.5 litres of oxygen flow, oxygen at levels for Joyce at ~92.
4:17 p.m. - Mark from physical therapy team returns, notifies he will check in with Joyce tomorrow morning when she is feeling better. Mark and nurse's aide departed room. Nurse's aide let Joyce know she will come back through to check on her "a little later."
