General Update #1

A Dr. Brown (female) arrived to check in with Joyce around 8:15 a.m., reviewing basic information (medications, allergies, reasons for home oxygen use, history of cancer, and other previous medical conditions).

Dr. Brown had Joyce roll over slightly in the hospital bed to permit inspection of her back. Dr. Brown asked Joyce if anyone on the hospital staff had informed Joyce that they suspect the spinal fracture was a pathological fracture (decay of the bone caused by cancer). Joyce stated that they had not told her that yet.

Dr. Brown is intending to reach out to the orthopaedic surgeons (branch of surgery concerned with the musculoskeletal system) and mom's primary care physician (Dr. Deborah Collins at Moscow Medical) to determine how to proceed with the hypothesis and treatment plan. Dr. Brown will check back in with Joyce and/or Dusty (who is currently on-site in the room with Joyce) once she hears back from both the orthopaedic surgeons and Dr. Collins.

Blood samples collected from Joyce at 9:12 a.m. by hospital technician.

Pain medication was administered ~9:20 a.m. by hospital nurse.
Hydrocodone and Mobix (an ibuprofen type of pain reliever, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory).

Breakfast order for Joyce was taken earlier in the morning and is scheduled to be delivered soon.

Message(s) from Joyce:
(To all family members): "Thank you for your love."

Current location:
Gritman Medical Center, Room 226.

Current pain level:
8 out of 10.

Visiting information:
Currently only one person is allowed in the room with Joyce at a time. When one individual visits and then leaves, current Gritman rules state they cannot return for 24 hours. This is subject to change according to current check-in procedure information obtained at the nurses station at 8 a.m.

Dusty is working to verify with hospital staff as rules for visiting are updated.
Clarification on if leaving room but remaining in hospital (not stepping outside) constitutes initiating the 24 hour segregation.
