General Update #73
Dusty called to check in with Joyce at 11 a.m. Joyce reported that breakfast today was scrambled eggs, sausage, and a chocolate chip muffin. "It was very good today."
Joyce stated that she has never made chocolate chip muffins and would need to make them when she returns home. Plain white muffins she specified, as she had previously added chocolate chips to her other muffin varieties. Joyce stated that she would like to be back at 1048 Estes Road.
Joyce stated that she has not yet received the two letters Dusty has mailed direct to her at Aspen Park. She confirmed again that she has received the three letters/cards that Dusty dropped off last night from Glenda, Frank and Linda, and the Estes Club. Joyce has not yet received the blue box fan that Dusty dropped off last night. Dusty said that he would call and follow up with the front desk team at Aspen Park about its whereabouts and timeline for delivery as Joyce stated her room gets quite warm now with the sun out.
Joyce asked about Jess and Dusty reported that she was down with a severe migraine and stayed home from work today to recover. Joyce stated that she used to get terrible migraines and that it was too bad people had to suffer with them regularly.
Joyce's pain levels this morning have been pretty good. She was just getting ready to put in a request for more pain medication to be administered after having awakened from "a very nice nap" in her chair. Joyce stated that she is ready for the physical therapy she was informed is scheduled for her later today, though she cannot recall what the nurses said they would be doing.
Joyce asked Dusty if he had heard anything about when she would be able to return home. Dusty informed her that she should be able to return to the farm by July 15. Joyce stated that she did not think anyone had told her that yet. Joyce asked if it really needed to be that long and Dusty confirmed that it was on par with what they had guessed they would keep Joyce for when she initially was being sent over to Aspen Park for skilled nursing and PT from Gritman.
Joyce asked what she did to get into Aspen Park. Dusty stated that she had fallen down the stairs at the farmhouse and fractured a vertebrae and two ribs. Joyce stated that must be the reason her back hurts. Joyce then asked, "Did I fall down the basement stairs?"Joyce asked. Dusty confirmed with Joyce that it was the basement stairs she had fallen down. "I shouldn't do such foolish things," Joyce said.
Joyce's arm became tired of holding the phone and the call concluded with Dusty stating he will attempt to stop by and visit Joyce through her room window later in the afternoon.
Dusty called main office at Aspen Park and spoke with Maggie. The fan which was dropped off for Joyce was located. Dusty was informed that Joyce was not allowed to have a fan in her room due to the facilities COVID-19 abatement procedures. Dusty apologized as he was previously informed that it would be acceptable for fans to be brought in for Joyce and will arrive to retrieve the fan from the facility. Dusty contacted Jennifer via email to find out alternate options.
