General Update #4

At 4:07 p.m. an nurse's aide checked in with the nurse to see if Joyce could attempt sitting in a chair. Nurse informed nurse's aide that approval to move Joyce to sitting position is still pending response from orthopaedic doctor.

Room service arrived at 4:15 p.m. to take Joyce's dinner order. Baked salmon (plain) was selected, with carrots, oven-roasted red potatoes and pears as sides. Iced tea as a beverage and a chocolate chip cookie for a dessert. Dinner expected to arrive approximately 5 p.m.

An nurse's aide checked Joyce's blood sugar levels at 4:52 p.m.

Nurse arrived at 5:08 p.m. and administered one unit of insulin to Joyce ahead of her dinner being served. Nurse informed Joyce of upcoming shift change of staff to occur at 6 p.m. for overnight care. Day shift nurse will bring night shift nurse by for introductions. Nurse informed Joyce that Dr. Brown is still awaiting feedback from orthopaedic doctor from St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for approval that Joyce is cleared to walk with the back injury. Once that has come through then Gritman staff will begin working with Joyce to get up and walking and moving toward discharge.

Dinner delivered to Joyce by room service at 5:15 p.m.
