General Update #8
Joyce has been napping off and on (mostly asleep with only a few moments of consciousness) since Dr. Brown's visit at 9:30 a.m.
At 10:48 a.m. Jessie (male) therapy aid arrived to Joyce's room for initial introductions. Informed that he and other aid named Mark will be coming to work with her on moving around in about 20 minutes.
Jessie confirmed that Joyce was not feeling nauseated or dizzy. He also asked to confirm if Joyce had difficulty maintaining balance independently at home or had used a walker. Joyce did not answer readily or distinctly after just having woke from napping so Dusty confirmed with Jessie that Joyce has had a history of falling (though none recently, with exception of recent tumble down stairs), lack of balance or steadiness on feet, and uses a four-wheeled walker to get around.
Message(s) from Joyce:
Joyce mentioned that she might have an appointment scheduled for June 5 that might need to be canceled. It would be listed on her calendar at home. Update (6/4/2020 at 12:23 p.m.): Connie confirmed that this has been canceled.
"My head and my back hurts, so this is going to take me a while to recover from this so I can't go out on the patio today and plant stuff."
The first thing that Joyce wants to do when she gets home is to check her refrigerator to ensure her sourdough starter is still there.
Participant observation:
Joyce asked Dusty at 9:53 a.m. if he could tell her what she did to get her placed in the hospital. Dusty asked if she remembered what happened and she stated that she does not remember. Dusty recounted a summary of what she did, as she had recounted it to him on the morning of June 3. She listened and she nodded her head. A few moments later she said, "I can remember laying on the floor. That was quite stupid of me."
Joyce "rediscovered" the lumps on her head again and expressed astonishment.
10:46 a.m. Joyce woke and wanted to know if she fell down the stairs at home. She paused after being informed by Dusty that she did and he asked her if she remembered it happening. She stated "parts of it" and then went back to sleep.
