General Update #102

Dusty attempted to get in touch with Aspen Park nursing staff for updates throughout the afternoon and early evening of 8/4/2020 but lines were either engaged, lines became disconnected after transfer, phones were transferred and then left unanswered, or no one called him back after requests for contact were made. Dusty figured that the staff was either super busy or understaffed for the day and continued attempting to make contact.

Dusty called and left a message for evening nurse Andrea around 8:47 p.m. on 8/4/2020.
Andrea returned Dusty's phone call around 9:49 p.m. and confirmed suspicion that today was very hectic for the Aspen Park staff. Dusty and Andrea conversed about their backgrounds in customer service and confirmed that flukes happen and that delays in information being relayed, missed follow up calls, etc. were frustrating but understandable.

Andrea reported that the urine culture collected from Joyce had not concluded it's growth cycle at this point in the lab. Staff would most likely would have determination on what antibiotics would be used to treat Joyce tomorrow and have been cleared to begin treatment as soon as they know what will work.

Joyce was reported to have bounced back from her severe lethargy this morning, participating in her therapies and walking ~400 feet in total today. She did not require constant coaxing to wake for meals or bathroom use today. Joyce exhibited baseline normal behaviors, with exception of some mental confusion over how she had gotten to Aspen Park and what she was meant to do there.

Andrea visited with Joyce this evening for a bit, ensuring that Joyce was comfortable and not distressed with the onset of night hours. Joyce was reported to be well and in good spirits. Joyce apologized to Andrea for "being dumped on her." Andrea attempted to explore what was meant by that train of thought and reassured Joyce that she had not been "dumped" on them and in fact would be getting to return home to the farmhouse in the near future. Joyce had some difficulty in understanding that she was only temporarily at Aspen Park at this point but Andrea managed to soothe things over by reviewing the timeline of events that brought Joyce to Aspen Park, the progress she had made since being there, and got Joyce settled in for the night. Andrea assured Joyce that a new discharge date would be set once she was well enough to go home.

Andrea stated that she would be going on her scheduled days off and that Kim would be watching over Joyce during the evening hours. Andrea confirmed that she would return and be at Aspen Park to keep an eye on Joyce starting Friday night and on through the weekend.

Dusty did not call Joyce this evening due to schedule conflicts and concerns over disturbing her unnecessarily based on the last information Maggie provided stating that Joyce was sleepy and incoherent. Dusty will attempt to call Joyce tomorrow morning during his 15-minute break from work shift.
