General Update #121
Dusty was unable to call Joyce last night (8/24/2020) due to issues with his phone and schedule conflicts.
---
Dusty called the Aspen Park nurse's station to request an update on Joyce (8/25) ~3:07 p.m. but received no response. Dusty called back and was connected to Maggie.
Report on brain and soft tissue of neck has come in but Maggie says that Dr. Collins and the oncologist need to review it. The chest and abdomen information has not come in yet at the time of the call. Dr. Collins and the oncologist will review all when available and provide information to Joyce and her family.
Maggie reported that Joyce is still confused. Joyce's appetite is fluctuating.
Maggie says that Joyce is in a general state of decline overall.
Dr. Collins has added a CMP blood draw for Joyce to be collected today by the Aspen Park team.
Dusty to be updated once more information becomes available.
Maggie confirmed that cancer center telehealth appointment is still on for Thursday at 2 p.m.

Dusty called Joyce to check in ~3:15 p.m. to check in and see how she was doing.
Joyce confirmed she had the CT scan done today but wasn't told anything. She stated that she thinks that Dusty and the rest of the family get told more about what is going on with her than she gets told. Dusty suggested that Joyce is most likely told but might be forgetting what was said to her. Joyce said that was a possibility.
Dusty asked if the therapy teams were waiting to work with Joyce upon her return from Gritman. Joyce stated that she did not have any work with the Aspen Park therapists today, most likely due to her CT scan appointment. Dusty asked if Ben (a friend of Dusty from Moscow grade school days) was Joyce's CT technician, describing Ben for her. Joyce could not recall.
Dusty asked if Joyce had been fed lunch and she stated that she had not been fed at all today so far. She declared that she was going to get up and was going to feed herself something that she hasn't had for a long time: a peanut butter sandwich. She said that she has been wanting one for a while since she has been in several different hospitals. Dusty asked if Joyce was going to request one from the nurses. Joyce said that she was not going to ask the nurses but was going to instead make it herself (thinking that she was at the farmhouse kitchen) assuming that she had some bread. If there was no bread in the house then she would "just have to get creative." Dusty suggested that Joyce should ask the nurse for help with getting food.
Joyce ended the call abruptly, stating that she was going to get to watching television.
