General Update #185 - October 13, 2020
Dusty misread his COVID-19 testing notice yesterday (thinking yesterday was Tuesday and not Monday). His testing at the UI SRC is tomorrow morning.
+++
Dusty arrived to farmhouse ~9 a.m. after traveling to campus in error for COVID-19 testing and picking up supplies for farmhouse (eggs, Swiffer WetJet pads, Oxiclean, butter) from Walmart. Joyce found awake, sitting upright in her recliner without oxygen line in place. Joyce informed Dusty that she had taken herself to the bathroom before he arrived though she did not know how long ago. Evidence that Joyce had issue with urinary incontinence that required skirt replacement. Dusty will check her disposable chair pad after breakfast. Joyce stated she was cold and Dusty made her a mug of hot Earl Grey tea.
9:10 a.m. - Nutritional shake given to Joyce along with morning medications (Carvedilol, Metformin, 2 Tylenol, Multivitamin, Potassium, Iron).
9:20 a.m. - Breakfast (1 cup cottage cheese, 1/2 banana, 1 hard boiled egg with Mrs. Dash seasoning). Joyce expressed lament at being fed, stating that she was not hungry and too much food had been brought to her, but later admitted she knew she needed to eat and set to it.
9:47 a.m. - Craig arrived to visit and have a snack. Craig reported that he has a sore throat that has been going on for 5 days and was keeping distant just to be safe, possibly catching something from Derik who had a sore throat 8 days ago. No other symptoms reported. Dusty confirmed he has been sanitizing most surfaces daily that are within anthropometric ranges people passing through might use. Craig asked if Dusty had cut out the Non Sequitur comic from yesterday's paper and Dusty confirmed, sharing a good laugh over what he'd done in leaving a gap in Craig's reading yesterday.
Joyce declined bathroom trip at 10:30 a.m. Dusty helped Joyce get her oxygen line back into place when she could not locate it (she had pulled it down and was wearing it like a chin strap).
12:16 p.m. - Lunch (leftover stuffed bell pepper and macaroni & cheese). Joyce lamented quantity of food given to her to eat. Joyce ate all of the mac & cheese and 3/4 of the stuffed bell pepper).
12:56 p.m. - Derik stopped by to say hi and use the farmhouse bathroom.
1:15 p.m. - Scam phone call to farmhouse landline intercepted, person claiming to be from the "Windows Technical Department."
1:30 p.m. - Joyce declined bathroom trip, stating she was sleepy and wanted to nap.
1:45 p.m. - Scam phone call to farmhouse landline intercepted. Caller was trying to obtain renewal payment for extending warranty on "the new car" Joyce owned.
2 p.m. - Joyce declined bathroom trip. Joyce continued napping.
3 p.m. - Joyce declined bathroom trip.
3:24 p.m. - Bathroom trip. Urinary incontinence requiring diaper pad insert change. Urine passed. Returned to recliner ~3:35 p.m. and asked to stretch out to nap.
3:48 p.m. - Vitals taken, BP 132/63, pulse 78. BGL @ 147.
Dusty departing farmhouse ~4:15 p.m. to work at his office on campus. Connie arriving to provide evening care for Joyce. Dusty returning to farmhouse tomorrow morning following COVID-19 testing at UI campus.
---
Joyce had to be reminded to keep oxygen line in place, kept pulling it out of position or trying to remove it entirely throughout the day.
