General Update #196 - Sunday, October 25, 2020

Dusty and Jess arrived to farmhouse ~8:24 a.m. finding Joyce asleep in her recliner without her oxygen line in place, rolled forward into a ball-like position. Joyce semi-coherent, Jess helped get the oxygen line back into place and worked on breathing exercises with Joyce to help get her re-oxygenated.

8:32 a.m. - Vitals taken. BP 146/83, pulse 82. BGL @ 173.

8:36 a.m. - Morning medication (Carvedilol, Metformin, 2 Tylenol, multivitamin, potassium, iron) and nutritional shake.

~9 a.m. - Bathroom trip. Minor urinary incontinence requiring diaper pad insert replacement. Urine passed. PT walk to family room and back out to kitchen. Dusty provided corrections to Joyce (she was pushing walker too far out in front of her as she walked).

9:55 a.m. - Breakfast served (Apple Dutch Babies). Breakfast stopped for bathroom trip, Joyce soiled herself. Dusty assisted Joyce with making it to bathroom and cleaning up. Joyce passed remainder of Type 6 bowel movement and was showered. Joyce became irritated at being showered. Dusty talked through her emotions with her and discovered that she was concerned about getting water into her eyes (she apparently has not been closing her eyes during the showers and so was getting water and soap into them but not articulating this issue). Dusty confirmed that going forward he would remind Joyce to shield her eyes/cup her face with her hands to prevent water droplets from getting into her eyes. Weight 158.7 lbs. PT walk declined, returned to recliner ~10:38 a.m.

10:40 a.m. - Breakfast resumed. Breakfast finished ~11:10 a.m.

1:15 p.m. - Bathroom trip. Minor urinary incontinence. Joyce released bladder early while seating herself onto the toilet riser. Dusty sanitized bathroom floor and toilet riser. Joyce took PT walk into her bedroom and family room before returning to kitchen recliner ~1:35 p.m.

1:50 p.m. - Joyce put on her compression stockings.

1:53 p.m. - 2 Tylenol for pain relief.

1:55 p.m. - Lunch (leftover Zip's hamburger and green beans).

~3:30p.m. - Jess took Joyce to bathroom while Dusty assisted Craig with moving equipment out of the fields to the farm shop. Joyce toileted without incident. PT walk to family room to look out far door. Walked into kitchen to check out the grape juice canned yesterday. Looked out kitchen window then back to her chair. Joyce started to cough when back in her chair asked for cold water. Jess refilled her cup with cold water from the dispenser and offered warm Earl Grey tea to help break up the phlegm in her throat.

6:17 p.m. - Bathroom trip. Minor urinary incontinence requiring diaper pad insert replacement. Urine passed. PT walk to living room before returning to kitchen recliner ~6:27 p.m. Joyce praised the shoes that Connie purchased for her, stating that she "felt more confident while walking in them."

6:30 p.m. - Vitals taken. BP 168/83, pulse 77. BGL @ 111.

7:13 p.m. - Dusty noticed fresh mouse droppings in the kitchen drawer between refrigerator and dishwasher (2nd from top) then noticed that the mouse trap had been triggered, eliminating 1 mouse. Estimating that mouse was slain within the last 1-2 days.

7:23 p.m. - Joyce expressed desire to have her dentures soaked overnight. Jess and Dusty confirmed that they get placed into their soaking tray nearly every night. Joyce was  concerned that they were not in a container to soak right now. Jess reminded Joyce they would be having dinner soon and confirmed that they had been brought out of soaking in their container earlier today for Joyce to use. Joyce calmed.

7:37 p.m. - Evening medication (carvedilol, metformin, 2 Tylenol).

7:39 p.m. - Dinner (Shepard's pie).

~9:15 p.m. - Bathroom trip without incident. Urine passed. PT walk declined. Joyce readied for bed.
