General Update #191 - Tuesday, October 20, 2020
Dusty arrived to farmhouse ~7:45 a.m., finding Joyce seating herself onto bathroom toilet riser. Joyce had soiled herself (Type 5) out in her recliner but the diaper held everything in place. Joyce attempted to hide her soiled diaper from Dusty as she did not want to be showered. Dusty removed diaper (Joyce had removed and rolled her diaper pad insert and was in the process of cleaning her hands with toilet paper when Dusty arrived into the bathroom to assist).
Joyce showered and placed into fresh clothes. Joyce unable to walk under her own power, had to be sat onto her walker and wheeled out to kitchen ~8:50 a.m., choosing to sit in the blue chair. Joyce refused breakfast. Dusty sanitized bathroom riser, sink, and floor.
9:05 a.m. - Vitals taken. 2 attempts at BP as Joyce would not focus to hold still. BP 163/96, pulse 82. BGL @ 131. Joyce continued to refuse breakfast.
9:07 a.m. - Nutritional shake and morning medication (carvedilol, metformin, 2 Tylenol, multivitamin, potassium, iron) given to Joyce. Joyce lamented at the quantity of pills she had to take. Dumped them out onto her lap. Dusty recollected them into the Dixie cup. Joyce dumped them out again. When Dusty moved to collect them again Joyce stopped him and had to work to explain she did that on purpose so she could pick them up one by one to take. Dusty watched her take all the pills individually.
9:16 a.m. - Breakfast (1 hardboiled egg with Mrs. Dash seasoning, 1/2 banana).
9:25 a.m. - Joyce dumped her nutritional shake down her front, her blankets, and onto carpet. Dusty cleaned up and got her another nutritional shake when Joyce said that she did want to have that to drink.
9:36 a.m. - Joyce dumped her breakfast tray. Dusty cleaned up. Joyce had eaten her hard boiled egg and so only lost her banana and replacement nutritional shake.
9:41 a.m. - Craig arrived to farmhouse to visit and read newspaper, bringing bananas from Moscow. Craig departed ~10:06 a.m.
10:09 a.m. - Joyce soiled herself (Type 6 bowel movement). Dusty stripped Joyce down in the living room and cleaned her up. Joyce walked to bathroom under her own power and passed urine and remaining Type 6 bowel movement. Joyce expressed irritation at having soiled herself and Dusty talked through her feelings with her. Joyce refused to be showered again. Dusty compromised by keeping her shirt and sweatshirt in place, having her stand in the shower using the handrails to steady herself as he washed her back, buttocks, and legs using the shower's sprayer wand. Dusty assisted Joyce with drying and putting on a fresh diaper, diaper pad insert, and skirt. Joyce was able to walk to kitchen under her own power. Joyce seated into her powered recliner ~11:15 a.m. as she stated that she wanted to nap.
~12:30 p.m. - Joyce declined lunch. Dusty departed farmhouse to pickup supplies from town.
~1:30 p.m. - Dusty returned to farmhouse, Joyce still napping. Joyce declined bathroom trip. Dusty put away supplies purchased (cleaners, fiber crackers, garbage bags).
~1:54 p.m. - Joyce roused enough to walk to the bathroom. Urine passed. Returned to recliner ~2:10 p.m.
2:11 p.m. - Vitals taken. BP 177/107, pulse 83. BGL @ 122. Joyce declined lunch. Dusty negotiated with Joyce to have 2 fiber crackers and 1/2 a banana as a snack.
2:15 p.m. - Craig arrived to visit and eat a sandwich.
2:20 p.m. - Snack (1/2 banana, 2 fiber crackers). 2 Tylenol. Joyce informed Dusty that she was very sleepy and wanted to nap. Dusty assured Joyce she could nap after she ate her snack and he would wake her next when it was time for a bathroom trip. Joyce protested, stating she wanted to nap and not eat. Dusty told Joyce that the longer she spent eating the less time she would have for napping. Joyce capitulated and reluctantly began eating her snack (but kept getting distracted - looking around the room, etc.). Craig sat with her to visit, letting her know about an accident he had with the Gleaner he was working on out in the shop and that he needed to borrow Dusty to remove an auger. Dusty and Craig attempted to get Joyce to eat. Joyce had eaten only the 1/2 banana and taken her 2 Tylenol by the time Dusty returned. Dusty attempted to get Joyce to eat the two fiber crackers but she refused. Joyce started napping in her recliner ~3 p.m. after Dusty gave up trying to get her to eat.
~4 p.m. - Joyce declined bathroom trip. Asked Dusty to sit on her walker and visit with her. Dusty updated her on the status of his Wood Badge Ticket (now completed), the Troop 344 meeting he attended last night, and the KPAC Board of Directors meeting which occurred before the Troop 344 meeting. Joyce started to fall asleep, so Dusty informed her was was going to swap the laundry over and put away what had finished in the dryer, then would return to bother her again to wake and head to the bathroom. Joyce proceeded to go through her purse to "see what is in there." Joyce recounted the cash that Dusty gave back to her from the afternoon's supply run, inspected "all the junk" and "sorted it." Purse was gone through a second time after she had repacked it as Dusty brought out kitchen towels.
~4:13 p.m. - Dusty intercepted a scam phone call to farmhouse. Caller would not identify themselves.
Connie arrived ~4:20 p.m. Connie asked Joyce how she liked having the floor lamp in the kitchen as a night light (allowing the kitchen's LED lights to be turned off, which Joyce had previously used as her nightlight/safety light/security light) and Joyce stated she thought it worked well.
~4:30 p.m. - Bathroom trip. Urinary incontinence. Joyce released bladder while seating herself onto the toilet riser. Joyce returned to kitchen ~4:45 p.m., choosing to sit in blue chair to do coloring with Connie. Dusty sanitized bathroom floor, toilet riser, and sink.
Dusty departing farmhouse ~5:10 p.m. and will return tomorrow ~8 a.m.
