General Update #165
Dusty arrived at farmhouse ~8:22 a.m. after stopping by Rosauers to pickup groceries he forgot to get last night on his way home. Found Joyce mostly in the position he left her in, reclined in her chair with oxygen tubing in place. Joyce reported some pain in her legs when Dusty roused her for the morning bathroom trip, Joyce requested that she have time to collect herself. Dusty suggested they remove her compression stockings for a while and after breakfast they'd soak her feet in Epsom salt. Joyce liked that idea. Joyce asked to remain seated in her recliner for a while longer as she didn't quite feel awake enough to stand up safely. Joyce was very lethargic and slow to respond to verbal directions, taking off compression stockings, or getting slippers on eventually. Requested additional time to "sit and wake up." Joyce continued to be slow to move or process conversation.
~8:40 a.m. - Blood pressure 159/89, pulse 77. Blood sugar 140.
~9:08 a.m. - Applied lidocaine patch.
~9:45 a.m. - Joyce traveled to bathroom after some effort in rising. Changed diaper (urinary incontinence). Joyce passed urine and had bowel movement (Type 5), did reasonable job of cleaning herself up with only minor assistance needed from Dusty. Fresh barrier cream was applied. Sores on Joyce's buttocks are healing, Dusty noted two raised areas of flesh that are more pronounced (possibly due to extended period of laying down in recliner?). Dusty will monitor and report to nurse tomorrow if they persist. Joyce agreed to walk to living room and back as part of PT, declined walking into kitchen, citing need to sit.
Joyce served breakfast ~10:10 a.m. (cereal and 1/3 banana). Joyce struggled to stay awake through eating breakfast. Joyce took her morning medication after breakfast intake completed (~10:40 a.m.). Carvedilol, Metformin, 2 Tylenol, multivitamin, Potassium, Iron. Joyce spent ~ 5 minutes making commentary about how many pills she has to take and reviewing what each one did for her with Dusty before taking them.
~10:51 a.m. Joyce requested to be allowed to nap. Dusty assisted with getting her leaned back in her recliner as she could not remember how to lay the chair back.
Joyce slept hard until Dusty roused her and after some delays was able to get her up to travel to the bathroom at ~3:30 p.m. Urinary incontinence during her nap, diaper changed. Urine and flatus passed. Fresh barrier cream applied. Joyce returned to her recliner ~3:45 p.m. Joyce stated that she did not know how to sit down on the raised recliner, Dusty had to walk her through recliner's remote use.
Blood pressure 147/86, pulse 77 @ 3:53 p.m., blood glucose level 112.
Joyce fed remaining stroganoff Carol had made for her as late lunch along with 1/2 glass of iced tea ~4 p.m., 2 Tylenol given for pain relief. Joyce finished eating meal around 4:23 p.m.
Dusty departing farmhouse ~4:35 p.m. for an afternoon meeting back in Moscow, planning to return ~7 p.m. to feed Joyce dinner, evening medication, and settle her in for the night.
