General Update #275 - Tuesday, January 12, 2020

7:31 a.m. - Bathroom trip with Craig, returned to recliner by 7:53 a.m.

8:10 a.m. - Jess arrived to farmhouse. Craig still on-site. Joyce awake without oxygen line in place.

8:12 a.m. - BP 173/70, pulse 69. BGL @ 155.

8:36 a.m. - Morning medication administered with nutritional shake. Joyce informed Jess she prefers the chocolate nutritional shakes versus the vanilla shakes but the vanilla ones were not bad. (Vanilla shakes were all that was in stock at time supplies for farmhouse were purchased by Dusty.)

8:40 a.m. - Breakfast (1 slice whole wheat toast with egg, banana). Breakfast finished by 9:10 .am.

9:33 a.m. - Bathroom. Urinary incontinence. Joyce only wearing a diaper and no pad. Disposable mat on recliner had evidence of previous accident occurring - Jess replaced it. Skirt changed. Remainder of urine and bowel movement (type 6) passed. Hemorrhoidal cream applied. Toilet seat riser and bathroom floor sanitized. Joyce returned to recliner by 10:10 a.m.

10:15 a.m. - Joyce stretched out in recliner to nap.

1:30 p.m. - Dusty arrived to farmhouse after meetings concluded. Joyce found in kitchen, loading dirty utensils and items from the breakfast Jess prepared onto her walker. When asked what Joyce was doing by Dusty she stated she was "just playing in her kitchen." Joyce was unstable on her feet and had backed herself into the corner of the counter near the stovetop, wedging her hips so she could stand without the walker to transfer items to it. Dusty finished taking items from counter, cleared Joyce's walker, and moved items to kitchen sink for later cleaning. Joyce informed Dusty she had gotten herself up to go to the bathroom but then she forgot to go and started cleaning her house instead. Joyce was alert and talkative.

1:45 p.m. - Bathroom trip. Urinary incontinence. Diaper and diaper pad insert changed. Remainder of urine passed. Hemorrhoidal cream applied. PT walk into living room before returning to recliner by 1:55 p.m. 

BP 166/79, pulse 76. BGL @ 123.

2:30 p.m. - Lunch (chicken cordon bleu, 1 slice apple pie, 1 cup cranberry juice). 2 Tylenol.

2:50 p.m. - Trish called Joyce's landline and spoke with Dusty. Trish and Arleen scheduled visit to see Joyce for Friday, January 15 at 10 a.m. (tentative). Jess updated about this visit so she can plan to be present.

Joyce confused about Trish and Arleen, not knowing who they were when Dusty attempted to update her about their plan to visit. Joyce thought that she had called them to schedule the visit; thought that she was going to be discussing tax work with them for this year; thought that Arleen was an odd name for Trish's dad's name; etc. Joyce resumed eating lunch slowly.

3:03 p.m. - Lunch paused, emergency bathroom trip. Urinary incontinence. Diaper and diaper pad insert replaced. Remainder of urine passed. High output of flatus passed. PT walk to living room, Joyce returned to recliner by 3:20 p.m. 

3:58 p.m. - Lunch finished. While finishing lunch Joyce would pause eating and have quasi-hallucinatory conversations with Dusty, stating that she "must have been dreaming just now" when she would make non-sequitur statements or randomly begin sentences in the middle of dialogue with non-existent entity. 

4 p.m. - Dusty departed farmhouse to return to work.

Joyce ate lunch very slowly. Her mental state began slowing and an increase of confusion occurred between 1:45 p.m. and Dusty departing to return to work at 4 p.m.

Dusty received confirmation from his AT&T account that Joyce's replacement cellphone (5G network compatible to replace her obsolete Breeze II model) is being shipped.

07/24/2020 Dusty missed calling Joyce due to personal schedule conflicts. 07/25/2020 Dusty called in to check with Joyce at 1 p.m. following a training session he attended for Scouts BSA. Lunch today was spaghetti "with a delicious meat sauce," a side of veggies and dessert was vanilla pudding. Joyce confessed that she might not have remembered it had the tray not still been sitting beside her with the remnants of the meal. She had today off from physical therapy but did have speech/mental therapy. She said that some of the questions that the speech therapists ask her are "laughable" because they ask her if she has lived in rural areas and then ask her about what she thinks living in the rural areas are like after already verifying she lives in the country. Dusty suggested that the therapists are trying to use something basic, like knowledge of Joyce living in the country, to then ask questions about living in the country to see how Joyce recalls information or rela...

General Update #95

07/27/2020 Dusty called Joyce to check in and wish her a good night while he was preparing dinner for Jess. Joyce was alert and quite talkative. Dusty reviewed the plan for the telehealth appointment scheduled for tomorrow and Joyce stated that no one had told her that was occurring. Dusty suggested to Joyce that they were going to visit with her tomorrow morning ahead of the appointment based on what Rachael had told him and Joyce concurred. Dusty questioned Joyce about her decline of participating in the urinary incontinence therapy as well as her reported lack of performance with physical therapy. Joyce stated that she had been looking forward to the urinary incontinence therapy work but according to her they only spoke to her once about it and then never again approached her about it.  Joyce felt like they don't do enough PT with her even though she wants to do more PT. General Update #85

Dusty and Jess called Joyce in the evening on July 4 to wish her a happy Independence Day.  Joyce reported that her pain levels were fairly low, even after doing upper body physical therapy work earlier in the day. She was a little disappointed with her meals served. She had been hoping that they would serve hot dogs and potato salad for lunch or dinner but none were to be had. Joyce could not recall what she ate for any of her three meals she was served. At the time of the phone call Joyce had not seen any fireworks out her north facing window but she could hear several concussive blasts of fireworks being set off near Dusty and Jess' apartment.  Joyce said that she did not see or hear the Let Freedom Ring Tour (a B-25 Mitchell, a F-7F Tigercat, a P-47 Thunderbolt, a P40N Warhawk, and a P51D Mustang), which was sponsored by Hangar180 , fly overhead around 5:45 p.m. but she might've missed it most likely owing to having been napping at the time.
