General Update #280 - Sunday, January 17, 2021

9:10 a.m. - Dusty arrived to farmhouse finding Joyce awake in her recliner without her oxygen line in place. Joyce stated that she had just returned from the bathroom, passing only urine, could not recall if she had been incontinent - toilet tank fills slowly and was filled, so at least was 30 minutes prior to Dusty's arrival. 

9:20 a.m. - BP 147/87, pulse 80. BGL @ 134. Morning medication administered with nutritional shake.

9:40 a.m. - Breakfast (6 mini pancakes with peanut butter and syrup, 1/2 can peaches). Breakfast finished by 10:40 a.m., Joyce began napping.

10:40 a.m. - Joyce soiled herself in recliner without warning (type 6). Joyce cleaned up and showered. Shoes sanitized. Bathroom sanitized. Returned to recliner by 12:05 p.m. under her own power.

Weight 156 lbs.

12:05 p.m. - Enrichment activity (sorting clothing from her old office clothes for donation from her closet). 

Joyce napped, citing fatigue. 

1 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined. Napping resumed.

1:30 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined. Napping resumed.

1:50 p.m. - Dusty departed farmhouse to travel to Moscow for Eagle Scout Board of Review. 

Dusty returned to farmhouse by 3 p.m., finding Joyce asleep in her recliner without oxygen line in place.

3:04 p.m. - BP 148/126, pulse 77. BGL @ 143.

3:08 p.m. - Lunch (1/2 pounder hamburger from McDonald's, 1/2 can peaches, V8 juice). 2 Tylenol. Lunch finished by 4:15 p.m.

4:30 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined. Joyce began napping

5 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined. Napping resumed.
 
5:30 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined. Napping resumed.

6 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined, dinner declined. Napping resumed.

6:30 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined, dinner declined. Napping resumed.

Craig arrived to farmhouse to visit, get day's summary about Joyce from Dusty. 

7 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined, dinner declined. Napping resumed.

7:30 p.m. - Bathroom. Urinary incontinence. Urinary surge on walk to bathroom, soiling skirt. Remainder of urine passed. Diaper, diaper pad insert, and skirt replaced. Hemorrhoidal cream applied. Joyce walked back out to recliner under her own power.

8:04 p.m. - Evening medication administered with nutritional shake. Dinner declined. Dusty worked on negotiating dinner with her.

8:15 p.m. - Dinner (bologna sandwich with mayo and mustard, Jell-O cup). Dinner finished by 8:50 p.m. Began napping.

9 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined. Napping resumed.

9:30 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined. Napping resumed.

10 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined. Napping resumed.

10:30 p.m. - Bathroom trip declined. Dusty informed Joyce he was preparing to head home and she would be on her own for bathroom trips if she didn't go now. Joyce began effort on waking herself up.

10:58 p.m. - Bathroom trip. Joyce was dry until she went to sit onto toilet seat riser, early bladder release. Joyce lost her balance and nearly fell backward while maneuvering onto toilet. Remainder of urine passed. Diaper and diaper pad insert replaced. Hemorrhoid cream declined. Joyce returned to recliner under her own power by 11:05 p.m.

Joyce stretched out into recliner and made ready for sleeping.

Dusty departing farmhouse ~11:15 p.m.

Jess unable to arrive to farmhouse today to give haircut to Joyce. Jess and Dusty planning to share morning and early afternoon coverage of Joyce tomorrow and will attempt to cut her hair and trim her fingernails then.

07/24/2020 Dusty missed calling Joyce due to personal schedule conflicts. 07/25/2020 Dusty called in to check with Joyce at 1 p.m. following a training session he attended for Scouts BSA. Lunch today was spaghetti "with a delicious meat sauce," a side of veggies and dessert was vanilla pudding. Joyce confessed that she might not have remembered it had the tray not still been sitting beside her with the remnants of the meal. She had today off from physical therapy but did have speech/mental therapy. She said that some of the questions that the speech therapists ask her are "laughable" because they ask her if she has lived in rural areas and then ask her about what she thinks living in the rural areas are like after already verifying she lives in the country. Dusty suggested that the therapists are trying to use something basic, like knowledge of Joyce living in the country, to then ask questions about living in the country to see how Joyce recalls information or rela...

General Update #95

07/27/2020 Dusty called Joyce to check in and wish her a good night while he was preparing dinner for Jess. Joyce was alert and quite talkative. Dusty reviewed the plan for the telehealth appointment scheduled for tomorrow and Joyce stated that no one had told her that was occurring. Dusty suggested to Joyce that they were going to visit with her tomorrow morning ahead of the appointment based on what Rachael had told him and Joyce concurred. Dusty questioned Joyce about her decline of participating in the urinary incontinence therapy as well as her reported lack of performance with physical therapy. Joyce stated that she had been looking forward to the urinary incontinence therapy work but according to her they only spoke to her once about it and then never again approached her about it.  Joyce felt like they don't do enough PT with her even though she wants to do more PT. General Update #85

Dusty and Jess called Joyce in the evening on July 4 to wish her a happy Independence Day.  Joyce reported that her pain levels were fairly low, even after doing upper body physical therapy work earlier in the day. She was a little disappointed with her meals served. She had been hoping that they would serve hot dogs and potato salad for lunch or dinner but none were to be had. Joyce could not recall what she ate for any of her three meals she was served. At the time of the phone call Joyce had not seen any fireworks out her north facing window but she could hear several concussive blasts of fireworks being set off near Dusty and Jess' apartment.  Joyce said that she did not see or hear the Let Freedom Ring Tour (a B-25 Mitchell, a F-7F Tigercat, a P-47 Thunderbolt, a P40N Warhawk, and a P51D Mustang), which was sponsored by Hangar180 , fly overhead around 5:45 p.m. but she might've missed it most likely owing to having been napping at the time.
