General Update #221 - Friday, November 20, 2020

9:10 a.m. - Jess arrived to farmhouse to find Joyce awake and coloring. Joyce had her oxygen line in place. Joyce reported she has a sore in the upper right side of her mouth.

9:12 a.m. - BP 165/102, pulse 81. BGL @ 110.

9:25 a.m. - Bathroom trip without incident. Small bowel movement and urine passed. Pressure wound scab came of.

10 a.m. - Morning medication (carvedilol, metformin, Mucinex, multivitamin, 2 Tylenol, iron, potassium) administered with nutritional shake.

10:03 a.m. - Breakfast (3 small pancakes with butter and syrup). Breakfast finished at 10:20 a.m.

10:35 a.m. - Bathroom trip without incident. Urine passed. PT walk to living room and back to her recliner by 10:45 a.m.

10:46 a.m. - Lidocaine and Tiger Balm patches applied to Joyce's back and knee respectively. Joyce asked to nap for a while. 

1:17 p.m. - Dusty arrived to farmhouse after being delayed from departing his campus office and found Joyce in the bathroom. Urinary incontinence requiring diaper pad insert replacement. Remaining urine passed. Dusty assisted Joyce with cleanup and applied fresh barrier cream to open wound on her right buttock. PT walk declined.

1:30 a.m. - Glenda Hawley called the farmhouse landline, sharing that she had just completed a treatment for her recent back injury. Glenda asked for a general update on Joyce and Dusty provided it. Joyce was not in a good mental state to converse with Glenda on the phone. Dusty confirmed he would attempt to call Glenda so she could talk with Joyce when Joyce is in a "good" mindset.

1:36 p.m. - Joyce consented to eating a light lunch, 1 muffin and 1/2 banana. 2 Tylenol for pain relief. 

3:36 p.m. - Bathroom trip without incident. Urine passed. Joyce very unstable in walking, Dusty had to help steady her moving into and out of bathroom. PT walk declined.

4:16 p.m. - BP 138/68, pulse 69. BGL @ 162.

4:49 p.m. - Joyce had a coughing fit and expelled some phlegm. 

Dusty departed farmhouse to pickup medication before veterinarian clinic closed in Moscow and picked up dinner making supplies and paper towels for Joyce.

~6 p.m. - Craig arrived to visit Joyce, departed ~6:46 p.m.

6:51 p.m. - Bathroom. Joyce was dry until she released her bladder early as she moved to sit on toilet riser. Dusty assisted with changing out her diaper and diaper pad insert and sterilized bathroom floor, sink, and toilet riser post toileting. Joyce declined PT walk, citing fatigue and unsteadiness. 

7:30 p.m. - Dinner (chicken cordon bleu, macaroni salad).

Joyce refused bathroom trips throughout the night, wanting to nap instead.

10:28 p.m. - Dusty discovered Joyce had set her medication aside and did not take it with dinner (Joyce had become irritated with Dusty and said she would take it after dinner, Dusty didn't follow up as he had become busy with a project at the table). Joyce took evening medication (Carvedilol, metformin, 2 Tylenol) with water. 

10:29 p.m. - Dusty began leaving the farmhouse when Joyce decided to head to the bathroom.

10:30 p.m. - Bathroom. Urine passed. Dusty assisted with cleaning Joyce and applying fresh barier cream to her open wound on right buttock.

10:40 p.m. - Joyce settled into her recliner and made ready for bed time.

Dusty departing farmhouse ~10:45 p.m., Connie arriving tomorrow morning to provide all day care for Joyce.

Joyce continually removed her oxygen line throughout the night, claiming that it "annoyed her" and she did not want to wear it anymore. Joyce would put it on when directed to by Dusty, then take it off when Dusty was out of line of sight.
