General Update #227 - Thursday, November 26, 2020

8:40 a.m. - Joyce awake, up and working on putting her last stack of sorted shirts away when Dusty and Jess arrived to farmhouse.

8:50 a.m. - Bathroom. Urinary incontinence. Remainder of urine passed. Wound cleaned and fresh barrier cream applied.

9:14 a.m. - Morning medication administered with nutritional shake.

9:19 a.m. - BP 171/82, pulse 78. BGL @ 121.

9:30 a.m. - Breakfast (4 pancakes with syrup and butter).

10:48 a.m. - Bathroom. Bowel movement (type 5) passed. Wound cleaned, fresh barrier cream applied. Joyce emotionally upset but had difficulty in communicating why she was upset. Joyce eventually expressed that she thought people were accusing her of doing things she was not doing. Joyce also stated that bathroom bowel movements upset her (the way the family puts on masks, uses air fresheners, turns on the bathroom ventilator fan - all make her self conscious). Joyce worried she was going to be put into the shower and she did not want that. Dusty worked through Joyce's emotions and eventually calmed her. Joyce later apologized and stated she was agitated because she had been woken up from a nap for the bathroom trip. Joyce agreed to do a PT walk to the living room before returning to her recliner. Joyce complained her throat was still sore and hurting her. Dusty administered elderberry juice Carol had made.

12:17 p.m. - Bathroom trip. Urinary incontinence. Urine and bowel movement (type 5) passed. Wound cleaned and fresh barrier cream applied. PT walk into living room before returning to recliner.

1:28 p.m. - Bathroom. Urine passed. Joyce negatively emotional and unable to articulate why she was angry. Joyce eventually stated she was mad because she "was getting old" and did not like that she recognized she was in decline. Frustration at all the things she can no longer do "when the mood strikes" her as she is physically, financially, or mentally incapable to do them and she is struggling with the handicap she now faces.

1:50 p.m. - Lidocaine patch applied to Joyce's back by Jess when Joyce was changed into fresh clothes.

1:53 p.m. - 2 Tylenol for pain relief.

~3 p.m. - Thanksgiving lunch with Craig, Carol, Christy, Tim, Jess, and Dusty at Craig and Carol's home. Joyce consumed entire plate and glass of water. Slice of pumpkin pie had for dessert.

~5:10 p.m. - Bathroom trip without incident, urine passed.

6 p.m. - Joyce returned to farmhouse and taken into bathroom. Urine passed, wound cleaned and fresh barrier cream applied.

8:10 p.m. - Bathroom trip without incident. Urine passed. Wound cleaned, fresh barrier cream applied. New diaper. PT walk to living room before returning to recliner.

8:27 p.m. - Joyce didn't believe that she had not taken her evening medications and initially refused to take them, concerned about overdose.

8:29 p.m. - Evening medication with nutritional shake.

8:44 p.m. - Joyce ready for bed, given extra blanket as she stated she was still chilled from her time at Craig and Carol's home. Jess and Dusty departing farmhouse shortly afterward.
