General Update #342 - Saturday, March 20, 2021

8:14 a.m. - Craig arrived to farmhouse. Lights on, Joyce has been up and moving about already. Joyce says that it was quite a while ago that she got up.

8:28 a.m. - Dusty arrived to farmhouse. Joyce in recliner with oxygen line in place. Bathroom trip declined. Breakfast declined. No nightmares reported - Joyce could not recall if she had any.

8:30 a.m. - BP 149/78, pulse 72. BGL @ 130.

8:39 a.m. - Nutritional shake with morning medication.

8:42 a.m. - Breakfast (omelet, applesauce, toast with butter). Joyce finished breakfast by 9:27 a.m.

Evidence found that Joyce had taken herself to the bathroom at least twice since Dusty left last night. Bathroom sanitized.

12:11 p.m. - Bathroom. Evidence discovered Joyce had previously soiled herself on one of the two trips she made prior to Dusty's return to the farm. Urinary incontinence. Remainder of urine passed. Flatus passed. Large amount of fecal matter in shoes - shoes sanitized. Joyce cleaned up and showered. 

Weight 158.6 lbs. PT walk to living room, returning to recliner by 1:07 p.m.

1:27 p.m. - Afternoon pills (2 Tylenol, cranberry supplement). 

1:29 p.m. - BP 126/67, pulse 66. BGL @ 108.

1:38 p.m. - Lunch (whole banana, chicken pot pie, Jell-O pudding cup). Lunch finished by 2:55 p.m.

~7:15 p.m. - Bathroom. Constipation. Miralax administered. Diaper and pad replaced. Type 1/Type 2 bowel movement passed with extreme difficulty. Joyce required extensive coaching on how to pass stool. Joyce continually attempted to pull fecal material out from her anus by hand and had to be stopped repeatedly from attempting by Dusty. Joyce refused to follow verbal instructions, became hostile and irritated. Joyce eventually managed to pick/pull/pass stool. Dusty cleaned Joyce up. PT walk declined, citing fatigue. Returned to recliner by 9:12 p.m.

9:14 p.m. - BP 164/82, pulse 69. BGL @ 115.

9:24 p.m. - Dinner (cheese manicotti, peaches & cream, Jell-O pudding cup). Dinner finished by 11 p.m., Joyce kept spacing off, ate slowly, did not respond to being directed to focus on eating. 

11:24 p.m. - Bathroom. Urinary incontinence. Remainder of urine passed. Diaper and pad replaced. PT walk declined, citing fatigue.

11:34 p.m. - Joyce setup for bed. Dusty departing farmhouse soon afterward.

Jess, Jess' father Steve, and Jess' step-mother Colleen, visited Joyce from mid-afternoon to early evening as part of their visit to Moscow from southern Oregon.

Joyce had dumped her purse at some point during the afternoon. Dusty assisted her in putting it back together. Joyce did not recall who Jess' step-mother was and expressed concern to Dusty that she thought that a stranger had been in her house all day (Colleen had remained inside with Joyce while Dusty, Jess and Steve worked out in the backyard on Dusty's Jeep). Joyce eventually recalled who Steve and Colleen were, only to forget again a few minutes later.

07/24/2020 Dusty missed calling Joyce due to personal schedule conflicts. 07/25/2020 Dusty called in to check with Joyce at 1 p.m. following a training session he attended for Scouts BSA. Lunch today was spaghetti "with a delicious meat sauce," a side of veggies and dessert was vanilla pudding. Joyce confessed that she might not have remembered it had the tray not still been sitting beside her with the remnants of the meal. She had today off from physical therapy but did have speech/mental therapy. She said that some of the questions that the speech therapists ask her are "laughable" because they ask her if she has lived in rural areas and then ask her about what she thinks living in the rural areas are like after already verifying she lives in the country. Dusty suggested that the therapists are trying to use something basic, like knowledge of Joyce living in the country, to then ask questions about living in the country to see how Joyce recalls information or rela...

General Update #95

07/27/2020 Dusty called Joyce to check in and wish her a good night while he was preparing dinner for Jess. Joyce was alert and quite talkative. Dusty reviewed the plan for the telehealth appointment scheduled for tomorrow and Joyce stated that no one had told her that was occurring. Dusty suggested to Joyce that they were going to visit with her tomorrow morning ahead of the appointment based on what Rachael had told him and Joyce concurred. Dusty questioned Joyce about her decline of participating in the urinary incontinence therapy as well as her reported lack of performance with physical therapy. Joyce stated that she had been looking forward to the urinary incontinence therapy work but according to her they only spoke to her once about it and then never again approached her about it.  Joyce felt like they don't do enough PT with her even though she wants to do more PT. General Update #85

Dusty and Jess called Joyce in the evening on July 4 to wish her a happy Independence Day.  Joyce reported that her pain levels were fairly low, even after doing upper body physical therapy work earlier in the day. She was a little disappointed with her meals served. She had been hoping that they would serve hot dogs and potato salad for lunch or dinner but none were to be had. Joyce could not recall what she ate for any of her three meals she was served. At the time of the phone call Joyce had not seen any fireworks out her north facing window but she could hear several concussive blasts of fireworks being set off near Dusty and Jess' apartment.  Joyce said that she did not see or hear the Let Freedom Ring Tour (a B-25 Mitchell, a F-7F Tigercat, a P-47 Thunderbolt, a P40N Warhawk, and a P51D Mustang), which was sponsored by Hangar180 , fly overhead around 5:45 p.m. but she might've missed it most likely owing to having been napping at the time.
